Image 1Emily Arnold McCully has been creating children’s books for over 50 years. Awards for her work include  a Christopher Award for Picnic, the Caldecott award for Mirette on the High Wire, and the Jane Addams  Award  for The Escape of Oney Judge: Martha Washington’s Slave Finds Freedom. She has concentrated on stories about real or imagined women and girls who dare to be great. Her Y/A biography of Ida M Tarbell, The Woman Who Challenged Big business and Won! was  named a best book of the year by The Washington Post and was a finalist for the YALSA Award. She has two grown sons, one grandson and lives in New York.
